This is a quick and easy recipe for garlic lovers. Garlic (Belluli in Kannada) is healthy and as we know just a little bit of it makes quite a difference to a dish. It has lots of medicinal properties Garlic rice is tasty but not a very common dish... I had made this several times and started loving it.
Ingredients | quantity |
Cooked rice | 2 cups |
Garlic pods | 20 |
Peanuts | 1 ½ tbsp. |
Green chillies | 1 slit |
Red chillies | 2 |
Pepper and jeera seeds | 1 tbsp. each |
Garam masala | ½ tsp(optional) |
Curry leaves | 2 sprigs |
Cilantro | few |
Mustard seeds | 1 tsp |
Urad dal split | ¼ tsp |
Salt | to taste |
Ghee | 3 tsp |
Method
1.Keep the cooked rice aside. Peel and chop garlic pods as well.Heat ghee in a pan. Roast chopped garlic to light golden brown. Wash and slit Green chillis also.
2. Heat oil in a wide skillet, add mustard seeds, split urad dal, dry red chillies, slit green chillies, curry leaves and peanuts. Fry them on a low heat. Now add pepper powder and cumin powder.
3. Adjust salt and mix the rice. Give a quick stir and turn off the heat.
Notes
Cashews can also be added while sauting.Adding lemon juice with little turmeric will give you the yellow look.An important thing in making any mixed rice variety is that the rice has to be cooked well but must be separate grains the rice is cooked, cool it well in a wide pan/ plate.
