Chickpea Kebabs are protein-rich kebabs made from brown chickpeas (kala channa).
This chickpea kebabs are very tasty and is crispy on the outside. Kala chana or black
chickpeas is an excellent source of manganese which enhance our overall
immunity. It has high fiber, protein and iron. Good for diabetic. Prevent
anemia and known to be an effective natural aid for weight loss due to high
fiber content.

Method
1. Wash and soak kala chana in water over night. Drain out the water in which kala chana was soaked overnight.Put soaked chana in a cooker, add some water with one tea spoon salt, and close the lid. Let the kala chana cool and place it aside.Boil potatoes and peel them. Wash and drain water from coriander leaves and cut them finely. Mash boiled chana with your fingers nicely.
2. Heat the pan and throw green chillies,chopped garlic and saute for few minutes.
3. Now add chopped onion, spices and boiled kala channa.
4. Transfer the mixture in the bowl and let it cool down.
5. Throw some mashed potatoes along with mint and coriander leaves.
6. After sometimes mix well with your hand along with bread crumbs.
7. Knead them as you would need a dough. Take big ball sized mixture in your hand and give kabob shape.
8. Repeat the same with your remaining mixture. Make small round shaped kabab/patties.
9. Shallow fry on medium hot oil till crisp and brown on both sides.
10. Garnish your kabob/tikka with salad. You can eat with pita bread to make a roll sand which or pita sandwich.
11. These are the Kebabs which melt in mouth and nutrition wise as well as taste wise are the best replacement for mutton Kebabs for vegetarians.Enjoy these bite sized delights any time you crave for something to munch on.
Serving suggestions
- Onion rings and chutney or sauce.
- Romani roti, bread and hot buttered buns.
- Curd, green coriander chutney or any dip of your choice
Notes
- Make sure boiled chana is mashed completely.
- The left over water from boiled chana can be used as soup with a dash of lemon juice and pepper powder.
- For soft mouth melting kabab add less binding.
