Coriander Tea (Dhaniya Tea) - Detox Drink

Coriander is one of the most consumed spices in the Indian spice rack. Any part of this super plant can be eaten; however, it is mostly the leaves and seeds that add to the flavor of a dish. Apart from its sweet and taste and appetizing aroma, there are many health benefits of this humble leaf. 


Coriander seeds can be made into a light yellow, aromatic tea that eases digestion and relaxes the mind and body. Cilantro tea is generally made from the fresh or dried and chopped leaf and stem of the plant. It is sometimes made from the seeds. You might find the taste of this coriander tea a bit unusual because of the spices in the recipe, but the tea doesn’t taste unpleasant.

Benefits of Cilantro Tea:

Historical use of cilantro tea includes its use to ease indigestion and prevent wound infection. It was also used to treat urinary tract infections and headaches. Today, cilantro tea is used to stimulate appetite, improve digestion and heal stomach discomfort, such as diarrhea and flatulence. Cilantro tea may also help control blood sugar, lower cholesterol levels, and relieve diabetes. It has been used to treat fever, chills, and vomiting. This coriander tea recipe is a great natural remedy to turn to when you’re having digestive issues. This is an herb that has also been known as a digestive aid and has also been used for respiratory issues and nerves.

Ingredients
  • Coriander seed – 1 tbsp
  • Shredded Dry ginger (Sukku) – 1 tsp
  • Pepper seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Fennel seeds – ½ tsp
  • Mint leaves -handful
  • Water – ½ litre
  • Tea -2 tbsp.
  • Grated jaggery - 5 tbsp.
  • Milk – 125 ml or more (as needed)






Method
1. Put Coriander seeds in the blender.



2. Scrape the dry ginger and add to the coriander seeds followed by pepper seeds.



3. Grind everything in a spice grinder until they are in powdered form.



4. Bring water to a boil and throw handful of mint leaves. 



5. Add spice powder to a saucepan.



6. Now add tea powder to the boiling water. Reduce heat and let the tea simmer for 5 minutes. Bring to a simmer for 5 – 10 minutes depending upon how strong you like it. 



7. Stir in with grated jaggery and Leave the mixture for 5 minutes.



8. Cool, then strain through a fine strainer into a bowl.



9. Add some milk for taste. You can either add drink the coriander tea with or without milk.



10. Drink immediately and save the rest for later. Your coriander tea is ready! 



11.Make sure to drink it 2-3 times a day. (Optional).The seeds have a wonderful fragrance and make this tea more.palatable.

Serving suggestions
  • Consume in the early morning 
  • During cold and coughs for adults and kids.



Notes


  • Cilantro tea should not be used during pregnancy, as it may increase miscarriage. 
  • If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, please consult with your health care provider before consuming cilantro in any form.
