Broken Wheat (Godhumai Rava) Kesari

Kesari is a pretty common Indian dessert which is made as a quick fix on many special occasions. My mom used to prepare kesari within few minutes.Today I have used broken wheat instead of the regular semolina/Rava. It is very easy and healthy sweet which tastes so divine and yumm.

Ingredients
  • Broken Wheat or Dalia - ½ cup
  • Jaggery – ¾ cup
  • Water –  2 cups
  • Ghee – 4 tbsp.
  • Handful of cashews
  • Raisins - 2 tbsp.
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp


Method
1. Heat a kadai with ghee and fry raisins, cashews to light golden brown colour and keep it aside.


2. Dry roast broken wheat in the same kadai for 5 mins till nice aroma arises.


3. Boil 2 cups of water. Now add the roasted broken wheat to the boiling water and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. 


4. Stir continuously to avoid forming lumps.


5. Now Broken wheat rava gets completely cooked. Add few amount of ghee if u want more taste. Add the jaggery to the cooked broken wheat with cardamom powder. 


6. Then add remaining ghee and fried nuts.Stir well on a low flame.Healthy and tasty Dhalia Halwa or Broken Wheat Kesari is ready.

Notes
  • Adding of more ghee gives the nice aroma and favour.If kesari is at right consistency, you can switch off the stove immediately. 
  • If it is still watery, then you can keep it for few more minutes, until you get the correct consistency.
