Mushur Daler Bora (Masoor dal Pakoras)- Bengali Version


Masoor Dal Pakora or Daler Bora in Bengali, is a savory snack made of red lentils with onions and spice. It is a traditional and crispy snack of Bengali household, very tasty, outer crispy and super soft from inner. This can be good choice of savory item which can be served as a side dish. Masoor Dal Pakoda which is popularly known as red lentils fritters is the Indian perfect tea-time snack. Ingredients
  • Masoor dal(Pink lentils) – 1 cup
  • Onion -1 no
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp.
  • Green chillies -2 no’s
  • Ginger grated -2 tsp
  • Curry leaves –few
  • Coriander leaves – few sprigs
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Oil –as needed
  • Salt – to taste

Method
1. Clean, wash and soak the dal for 3-4 hours. Strain the water using a strainer. Grind masoor dal with green chilies, cumin seeds and ginger. Grind it coarsely, without adding water.


2. Put the lentils in a blender along with the other ingredients & 3/4 tbsp. water. Blend to a coarse thickness. Transfer into a large bowl. Add chopped onion, coriander leaves, salt and turmeric powder. Now mix everything together. 


3. Heat the oil in a pan and once oil is hot, with the help of small spoon take the batter and put it into oil and when it turn golden brown in color take it out on kitchen napkin to remove the excess oil.Try not to over fill the pan with the lentil mixtures.


4. Fry for 3/4 minutes on each side, turn the over half way through. Once golden brown, take them out and place the bora's on kitchen tissue to drain off excess oil. 


5. Serve hot with your favorite dip, sauce or chutney.

Notes
Add many more veggies to make it healthy.
Actually it came out very well without inserting gram or rice flour.
