Gulab Jamun



Happy New Year to all of you  and want to share our family's favorite sweet Gulab jamun. But these days so many ready-made mix for gulab jamun is available in the market to make the job easier. Gulab Jamun is very famous Indian dessert, where milk balls are dipped in sugar syrup.It can be eaten as such or served it along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make it tastier.   Today I made this exotic sweet and it came out very delicious and spongy.

Ingredients
  • Store bought mix -2 packets
  • Milk -1 cup or less
  • Pinch of salt
Sugar syrup
  • Water -2 cup
  • Sugar -2 cup
  • Cardamom powder -1 tsp
  • Rose essence –few drops
  • Kesar color -pinch


 







































Method

1. Combine the store bought mix with milk little by little and bring it to a soft , pliable dough. Add the required water. Keep it aside for 15 minutes. Do not knead the dough much. 
2. Make small balls without cracks and deep fry them in a low flame till it becomes soft.Keep it aside. In  a broad vessel make take the sugar and add equal amount of water. 
3. Allow it to dissolve completely by constant stirring in a low flame. Make sure the sugar syrup does not start to boil before it dissolves completely. 
4. Once it is dissolved , raise the flame and allow it to boil for  5- 7  mins.Add the cardamom powder, kesar color when it boils. 

5. Finally add the rose essence and switch off the flame. Add the jamuns when the syrup is hot. Leave it for an hour and serve !!

Chilled ice cream

Notes
Don’t knead the dough for long time
If you wish you can add saffron, instead of cardamom and also you can avoid the color.
